What's a Parent To Do?
 

When Hosting a Teen Party

• Agree on a guest list - don't admit party crashers

• Discuss ground rules before the party

• Serve plenty of snacks and non - alcohol drinks

• Be visible and available - don't join the party

• Brainstorm fun activities for the party

• If a guest brings alcohol into your home - ask them to leave

• Encourage your teen to plan the party with responsible and supportive friends

Help Youth To Say No

• When asked to a party, s/he can ask "Who will be there?  Will there be drinking?"

• Teach youth to say "I'm seeing a movie that night!" or "I've got plans."

• Remind your teen to leave a situation if s/he is not comfortable.

• Teach your teen NOT to get in a car if the driver has been drinking.
